This short (105mm, 4in. long) series 42 Quadrace car is used to deflect the mainsheet around the curved track to prevent it from cutting across and obstructing the cockpit.Four cars in total are used on the track,two each side of the mainsheet traveller car,strops attached to the traveller car controlling the car positions on the track. Lashing blocks are secured to these cars through which the mainsheet and control lines pass in order to lead them to each side of the boat. As much material has been removed from the car body as possible in order to save weight,thus exposing the Quadrace ball bearing system. Rubber buffers are fitted to the end caps to prevent car damage when the cars come together |
